Cat Sponsorship - The Next Best Thing

Thankfully, we at Habitat for Cats adopt out most of the kitties taken into the rescue program, but there are some that may never find a home because they are too old, handicapped or have medical or behavioral problems. These cats will more than likely remain indefinitely under Habitat’s care and will need to be provided with food, shelter, medical care and love for their lifetime with us.

We know that there are many people, that for various reasons (allergies, no pets lease, maxed out on pets), are not able to adopt a cat, but would like to help one and feel a special bond to one.

The Cat Sponsorship program is available to fill these needs. Cat sponsorship ensures that the financial support is there for those cats that must remain in long-term care. If the opportunity arises where a kind soul is willing and able to adopt or provide a long-term foster home for one of the sponsored cats, Habitat will inform the cat's sponsors and remove the cat from the sponsorship list.

A pledge of $20 a month will sponsor a cat.
You will receive a photo of your chosen cat or cats.
We will correspond with you by email at Sponsor@HabitatforCats.org and answer any questions you may have about your sponsored cat(s).
An invitation to visit “your” cat will be offered to you after 6 months of sponsorship.

If you're interested in sponsoring a cat you may do it by two ways:

1. Sponsor a cat every month using our secure PayPal affiliate account.
Just click on the PayPal button next to the cat you select. Your sponsorship will last one year unless you cancel it before that time.

2. Send a check for $20.00, with a note letting us know which cat you have chosen. Send check made out to HFC to:

Sponsoring a cat is the next best thing to owning your own.

Beachplum

A longhaired beauty, Beachplum has settled into the sanctuary very well. She spent sometime at our adoption center but was so timid of people that we were unable to find her a home. She has made many friends at the sanctuary and is always right there at breakfast and supper times. Beachplum could easily be a model for the front cover of Cat Fancy magazine.

Gabriel

Gabriel is a very sweet cat that loves to be petted, but has no desire to be held. He will bolt away when he senses you're about to scoop him up, making it very difficult when it comes time for medicine or shots. He's been at the sanctuary a long time (over 5 years) and is usually seen with his best girl-friend Piper.

Hedgie

Hedgie was born in Westport, MA. to a feral mom. She was rescued as a kitten and shortly thereafter adopted. She lived in this home for 6 months until the family decided to move and left her behind. Hedgie was placed in foster care, but because she is blind, Hedgie had difficulty adjusting. She now lives at Habitat’s Sanctuary in her own penned area where she is safe and comfortable. At times she is allowed to roam outside her pen while carefully monitored by a volunteer. Hedgie is a very loving and friendly girl who enjoys beingheld and purrs loudly when anyone brushes her coat.

Tucker

Tucker is a very reclusive cat. He is comfortable only when he's in hiding. He spends his time huddled inside his hut or if in the medical room, hiding in a box or corner. He prefers to be left alone and will allow you to pet him, maybe, but only after warning you with a hiss. He's a real character.

Picasso

Picasso was brought to Habitat's sanctuary from Fall River where he lived in an old trailer with three of his feline friends. He was rescued by a cat lover after he had been hit by a car and sustained injuries which left him unable to control his bodily functions,
so he must remain in our care for his lifetime. Picasso is a gentle, loving kitty whofollows the volunteers when they come to feed and care for the cats.

Rosebud

Named for her beautiful coloring, Rosebud is a dainty calico who loves being at the sanctuary. She enjoys climbing trees and playing in the grass. She is very shy of people so it is difficult to find her a home but she is definitely a favorite of the volunteers.

Pippa

Pippa came to our sanctuary from
another shelter because she was unadoptable. She's very skittish and her coloring makes it easy for her to blend nicely into the wooded background and almost "disappear" from view. She has a deformed front paw/leg possibly from an old injury or a birth defect. This doesn't hinder her at all, and if a volunteer should come upon her unexpectedly, she quickly scoots away without any difficulty.

Sandy

Sandy was one of those rescued kitties that just never became social enough to be adopted. She stayed in foster care for one year before entering the sanctuary. Sandy spent most of her time hiding out in the cellar. One thing though, she would always come upstairs with a shake of the treat bottle! She loved her treats. Sandy still comes to greet you at the sanctuary when the treat bottle gets shaken.
